Woman ‘stabs neighbour to death over minor misunderstanding’ in Lagos

The police command in Lagos has arrested one Cynthia Aigbondon, a middle aged woman, for allegedly stabbing her neighbour to death.

The suspect was said to have stabbed the deceased, identified as Barakat, with a knife after a minor misunderstanding, while fetching water from a public tap near their house.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, told NAN that Lukmon Adio, the husband of the deceased, reported the incident to the Ajegunle police division on Sunday night.

Hundeyin disclosed that the deceased was rushed to the hospital after the incident and was confirmed dead by the doctor.

“The misunderstanding allegedly resulted in the suspect stabbing the late Bakarat with a kitchen knife at the left side of her ribs,” he said.

“She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors on duty confirmed her dead.”

He added that the corpse of the deceased has been taken to the morgue for autopsy and preservation.

Hundeyin said the police had visited the scene of the incident to retrieve exhibits and take photographs.
