World Cup qualifiers:15 Super Eagles players arrive camp for Rwanda, South Africa matches

Fifteen players have arrived at the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s camp ahead of their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and South Africa.

The camp opened on Monday in Uyo with William Ekong, national team captain, according to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Saudi Arabia-based defender was joined by a combination of established and fringe players as training began in earnest for the decisive qualifying fixtures.

They include Wilfred Ndidi, the vice captain, alongside midfielders Frank Onyeka and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, with defenders Bruno Onyemaechi and Felix Agu, Chidozie Awaziem, and Benjamin Fredericks also in tow.

The first batch of England-based stars including Olaoluwa Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, and Alex Iwobi arrived on Tuesday, with others expected.

The goalkeeper unit has received back-up goalkeepers Amas Obasogie, former Bendel Insurance captain, and Adeleye Adebayo, while Stanley Nwabali, first choice shotstopper, is expected later in the day.

A host of big name arrivals, spearheaded by Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, and the likes of Tolu Arokodare, Samuel Chukwueze, Christantus Uche, and Cyriel Dessers who were busy on transfer deadline day, are expected on Wednesday.

Nigeria, fourth in the group with only seven points from six matches, will face Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on September 6, before travelling to Bloemfontein for a battle of supremacy against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on September 9.
