The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) has announced 14 journalists shortlisted for the 20th edition of the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting (WSAIR).
The finalists were selected from 184 eligible entries reviewed by a judging panel chaired by Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika of the University of Lagos.
Those shortlisted journalists are: Kingsley Jeremiah (The Guardian), Ann Godwin (The Guardian), Tina Todo (The Guardian), Julius Osahon (The Guardian), Monday Osayende (The Guardian), Muslim Yusuf (Trust TV), Victor Asowata (The Will), Ugonma Mathias (African Angle), Kunle Adebajo (HumAngle), Afeez Hanafi (Daily Trust), Elliot Ovadje (The Punch), Isah Ismaila (HumAngle Media), Emenike Chukwuemeka (New Telegraph), and Theophilus Adedokun (National Record, freelance).

In a statement issued on Thursday, the centre said the shortlisted works demonstrate exceptional courage, depth and a strong commitment to public-interest reporting, standards that the award has upheld since it was established in honour of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka in 2005.
“This year holds special significance: twenty years of strengthening Nigeria’s democracy, defending press freedom, best practices, amplifying the role of investigative journalism in exposing injustice and holding power to account,” the centre said.
Winners will be unveiled on December 9 at the MUSON Centre in Lagos, as part of events marking WSCIJ’s 20th anniversary and the conclusion of the 2025 Amplify In-Depth Media Conference and Awards.
