Yobe deputy governor survives car crash

Abubakar Aliyu, deputy governor of Yobe state, was involved in an accident at Dakatsalle town in Bebeji local government area of Kano state on Monday.

A witness told NAN that the incident occurred after a vehicle on high speed hit his official car around 1pm.

According to the witness who did not want to be named, Aliyu’s convoy made a brief stopover at the town when the incident happened.

He said that the driver of the private vehicle was trying to avoid a mad man who was loitering on the road.

“It was in the process of avoiding the lunatic that the driver of the vehicle lost control and hit the official car of the deputy governor,” he said.

Aminu Umar, sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, confirmed the incident.

“The incident happened but it was a minor one because there was no loss of live and nobody sustained any injury,” Umar said.

“The deputy governor is now at the government house, Kano, to condole Governor Abdullahi Ganduje over the death of his mother.”

The accident happened just a day after James Ocholi, minister of labour and employment, died alongside his wife and son in a road crash in Kaduna.
