Joseph Yobo has put behind him the horror of scoring an own goal in his last international game for the Super Eagles, and the 100-cap man is now looking to return to the team as the head coach.

Nigeria lost 2-0 to France in Yobo’s 100th and last game, but the former Eagles captain is already looking ahead to a life as the team’s gaffer to continue rendering his services to his country.

“Yes, I hope to return to the Super Eagles someday if my services are needed, but this time as a coach or administrator,” he told Newswatch Sports.

“I want to heed the clamour from my friends who believe I have all the qualities to make a good coach and have advised me to come back and help my country. It has always been my dream that one day I will coach the Super Eagles and use the opportunity to correct some of the mistakes our former coaches made while we were playing under them.

“I am planning to acquire a UEFA coaching certificate in England among others when I quit club football in order to prepare myself for this challenge.”

Yobo made his debut with the Super Eagles in 2001 and played at three World Cups, winning the Africa Cup of Nations as captain last year.
