Accord has asked Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise to get their permanent voter cards (PVCs).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Maxwell Mgbudem, the party’s national chairman, said voter registration is the only way Nigerians can elect credible leaders.
Mgbudem felicitated Nigerians on the nation’s 65th independence anniversary, noting that the country has made great strides in its democratic journey.
“The foremost progressive party in Nigeria, Accord joins millions of citizens to celebrate this year’s Independence anniversary,” the statement reads.

He said that in spite of turbulent political experience, military intervention, civil war, economic recession, socio-religious disharmony, and security challenges, Nigerians remain resolute, undaunted, and unwavering in building a strong, prosperous, egalitarian, and just democratic nation.
Mgbudem asked Nigerians to keep hope alive and “continue to water and nurture the tree of democracy to maturity to yield its abundant fruits and dividends to the people”.
“Accord stands with Nigerians in building a better and greater society where no man or woman is oppressed and will hand to our children and future generations a banner without stain,” he said.

“The party will resist any attempt to subvert the people’s will. We must uphold the sanctity of the ballot box and the will of the people expressed therein.
“In the past, the people sold their votes for a mess of electoral porridge; it should not happen on November 8.It is a date with destiny of the state.”
Mgbudem asked the federal government to curb insecurity and protect lives and properties, which is its primary function.
