Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of (RCCG), has commended Yahaya Bello, Kogi governor, for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Speaking on Saturday when he paid a courtesy visit to Bello in Lokoja, he praised the governor for showing religious tolerance by building the first chapel in the Kogi government house.

“We are delighted by your show of faith in God, particularly in dealing with coronavirus. It takes a man of faith to have acted the way you did and we are very pleased with you,” he said.

“We have also heard the news of how you’ve been relating to people of every faith to the extent that you built the first chapel in the government house, Lokoja. We are delighted, sir.

“I want to assure you that we will keep on praying for you. We will keep on praying for the people of your state, and I believe that the Almighty God will answer our prayers for you.”

Noting that Adeboye’s visit was a gift to Kogi, Bello said he was delighted to host the cleric, whom he described as a “father figure who serves as a role model” to himself and many people across the country.

He further assured Adeboye of his administration’s commitment to fighting criminality, creating ethnic and religious balance, and protecting the lives of citizens.

Bello is known for downplaying the severity of the pandemic and discouraging the use of COVID-19 vaccine by falsely stating that the jabs are meant to kill people.

However, in April, Kogi received 16,900 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Kogi is also one of the states where COVID tests are next to nothing, as according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), only five cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in the state.
