Youth Party’s Ayodele Adio declares bid to contest Eti-Osa LGA chairmanship poll

Ayodele Adio, a chairmanship aspirant of the Youth Party, has formally declared his intention to contest the Eti-Osa LGA election in Lagos state.

Speaking on Monday at the council’s administrative headquarters, Adio said he is optimistic about not only becoming the party’s candidate but also winning the election scheduled for July 12.

The YP has announced that it will hold its primary elections on May 18.

Adio promised to build an administration founded on effective public financial accountability and service delivery.

He urged the people not to lose hope in the possibility of a credible election process.

“This announcement today comes from a place of profound belief in what we can make this community become,” Adio said.

“I see the roads that need fixing, the drains that overflow with the slightest rain, the heaps of waste that diminish our dignity and threaten our health. I see our young people hungry for opportunity, families worried about safety, and many of the vulnerable needing reliable care. We know, deeply and personally, the gap between the promise of Eti Osa and the reality of our daily lives.

“For too long, we have been told to manage our expectations. To accept that this is just how things are. To believe that the resources meant for our schools, our clinics, our security, our environment, can somehow vanish into thin air.

“This is not just about politics as usual. This is about our lives. This is about our children’s future. This is about whether we can trust that the money collected in our name will actually work for us.

“That is why I stand before you today, not with empty promises, but with a fierce belief in what is possible when good people decide they have had enough of the status quo. I stand here as your neighbour, a member of the Youth Party, ready to fight for the Eti Osa we all know is within reach.

Adio promised to run a government where transparency and accountability take centre stage, ensuring that the resources deployed to the local government are properly utilised for the good of residents.

He appealed to the people for their trust, support, and vote, while pledging to transform transparency and service delivery from slogans into reality.

“Let us prove that a different kind of politics is possible, right here in Eti-Osa. A politics grounded in honesty, driven by service, and focused relentlessly on delivering results for you,” he said.

“The truth is that effective public service is not a luxury; it is the fundamental duty of local government. It is about competence meeting compassion to deliver tangible results that improve your daily existence.

“I know the challenges are immense. I know the forces we are up against are powerful. But I also know the power of a united community. I know the strength of people who are tired of the old ways and hungry for a new beginning.

“That is why this is not just another election; it is a choice about the future of Eti Osa. It is a choice between the politics of the past and a new approach, grounded in accountability, driven by service, and focused relentlessly on improving your life.”

The declaration ceremony was attended by party chieftains, supporters and residents from across the council area.
