Zamfara gov suspends emir over ‘involvement’ in banditry

Bello Mutawalle, governor of Zamfara state, has approved the suspension of the Abubakar Ibrahim, emir of Maru, and Ahmad Lawal, district head of Kanoma.

The governor’s decision was made known in a statement signed by Yusuf Idris, the director general, government house press affairs.

Yusuf said the duo were suspended after series of complaints on their alleged involvement in banditry and other criminal acts.

According to the statement, they are to hand over the affairs of their domains and proceed on leave pending an investigation into their alleged involvement in armed banditry activities.
