The Zamfara state government says it will not negotiate with bandits terrorising the state.

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Abubakar Nakwada, secretary to the state government (SSG), said Dauda Lawal’s administration would wage war against terrorists and criminal elements until they are eliminated from the state.

He said the present administration is committed to ensuring accountability and transparency in its governance, noting that any public official found not accountable would face the consequences.

Nakwaba said the state government has revoked some properties that were “illegally allocated” to some persons in Gusau, the Zamfara capital.

He also said the state government is in talks with the National Examination Council (NECO) to settle unpaid examination fees owed by the state government.

Nakwaba further said permanent secretaries appointed after the 2023 polls by Bello Matawalle, former governor of the state, have been suspended.

He added that newly created districts and village heads appointed by the previous administration between December 2022 and May 2023 have also been suspended.
