Zamfara speaker’s father, stepmother abducted by gunmen
The father and stepmother of Nasiru Magarya, the speaker of Zamfara state house of assembly, have been kidnapped by gunmen.
Their abduction was confirmed by the Zamfara police command on Thursday.
Muhammad Shehu, the public relations officer of Zamfara police command, told NAN that the gunmen also abducted four other persons during the attack.
He said the police command had deployed personnel to go after the kidnappers and rescue the captives.
Shehu said: “The unknown gunmen on Wednesday invaded Magarya town in Zurmi Local Government Area and kidnapped the Speaker’s biological father, his stepmother and four other persons.
“The command has deployed a squad of security personnel to rescue the abducted persons.”
Mustapha Jafaru-Kaura, the director-general, press and public affairs, Zamfara house of assembly, was quoted as saying the assembly would officially react to the development.
