Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, has reportedly conducted an impromptu aptitude test for some teachers in the state.

Zulum was said to have conducted the test for 65 teachers in Baga, a town in Kukawa LGA of the state, on Monday.

The governor explained that the test was not conducted to dismiss the teachers, but to determine their competence.

He added that those who fail to qualify to remain as teachers will be redeployed to the administrative department, or enrolled for further training.

The governor also said evaluation exercise for teachers and pupils would be carried out annually.

After reviewing their performance on the aptitude tests, Zulum announced a package of N20,000 and 10 yards of fabric for each teacher, while the principal of the senior secondary school and the primary school head teacher got N50,000 and 10 yards of fabric, respectively.

“As long as you will make meaningful impact to the society, we shall support you. We shall evaluate you, and those of you whose salaries need to be upgraded will be updated,” Zulum said, while addressing the teachers.
