Adebayor is like a date who’s not responding, says Togo coach
Tottenham striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, will not be selected by Togo coach Tom Saintfiet who has likened the player to a bad date.
Saintfiet said the forward failed to respond to a call-up for an African Cup of Nations qualifier with Djibouti on September 4 which the player had threatened to miss after he was stripped of the captaincy in June.
His refusal to play for his country has made the coach compare him with a bad date.
“If you are dating a woman who does not want to respond positively, then you must look for another woman,” Saintfiet said.
“For me, it is clear that he is a player who does not want to play for his country anymore.”
According to Saintfiet, Adebayor failed to reply to Togo management regarding last week’s game by text message or email.
The 31-year-old is yet to feature for Spurs this season and has been left out of both their Barclays Premier League and Europa League squads.
