Former Rivers state commissioner of police, Joseph Mbu, on Monday directed a veiled criticism at governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi, with whom he had a long-running battle until his transfer to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mbu, who has just been appointed as AIG zone 7, charged Wilson Inalegu, his successor at the FCT, to place sentiment aside in order to handle his new assignment effectively.

“You are the father of the command; do not apply sentiments when doing police work because when you do that, you will fail,” he said.

“What the force need is a strong leader who leads by example.”

Referring to the governor indirectly, Mbu boasted that Amaechi could not forget him in a hurry.

“It is only the lion that can tame the leopard,” he bragged.

“Each time the leopard remembers my face, it makes noise, but if it knows I am around, it cannot make noise.

“I tamed the leopard in Port Harcourt; each time he remembers my face, he would remember how I tamed him. A lion is a lion.”

Earlier on Thursday, Amaechi referred to Mbu “as a politician in police uniform”.

“Joseph Mbu clearly showed us that he was a registered member of PDP,” he said while welcoming the new police commissioner to the state.

“Fortunately for us, they took him away. The way Mr. Mbu was going, Rivers economy would have collapsed completely.”
