’10 killed’ as gunmen attack Plateau community

At least 10 people have been reportedly killed in Kulben community, Gindiri district of Mangu LGA of Plateau state. 

According to NAN, the victims were killed by suspected gunmen who attacked the community on Sunday night.

Jerry Datim, a resident in the community, said 10 dead bodies were recovered after the attack.

‘’The criminals invaded the village and started shooting sporadically,” Datim was quoted as saying.

“People started running to safety but the bullets killed some whose bodies were later found.

‘’We alerted the security personnel, but before they got there, the attackers had moved from the community.”

TheCable contacted Alfred Alabo, the police spokesperson in Plateau, for comment about the incident.

He declined to comment and ended the call when the attack was mentioned.

The police spokesperson did not respond to subsequent calls or text messages.

Plateau has witnessed a spike in gunmen attacks who raid, abduct, and kill residents.

Amid the increasing attacks in the north-central state, Taoreed Lagbaja, chief of army staff (COAS), in July, launched a special military operation, Hakorin Damisa IV, to tackle the insecurity in Mangu LGA of the state.
