The Zamfara government says it discharged 18 COVID-19 patients from its isolation centre in Damba, Gusau, the state capital.

Nasiru Magarya, the speaker of the state house of assembly who is also the chairman of the Zamfara task force on COVID-19, disclosed the development in a statement on Thursday.

Magarya said the patients, who have recovered from the disease, were released after receiving certification from Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He said they were released and reunited with their families in the early hours of Thursday.
