Twenty two aspirants for political offices have picked the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) forms in Anambra for the 2015 elections in the state.
The party began the sale of forms for house of assembly and house of representatives elections on Tuesday.
Mike Kwentor, state chairman of the party, said this while receiving Ernest Elochukwu, a former president of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, who bought his nomination form on Wednesday in Awka.
Elochukwu picked form for Nnewi north/south and Ekwusigo federal constituency.
Kwentor said the number of aspirants was unprecedented barely 24 hours after the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms began.
He said that the party had been waxing stronger even as it was before Peter Obi, former Governor of the state, defected to PDP.
“Peter Obi walked into APGA alone and left alone so the party is even stronger than he met it,” Kwentor said.
He assured the party faithfuls of free and fair primaries after the sale of nomination forms which would end on November 4.
He said that out of the 22 aspirants who bought forms so far, 20 of them were for house of assembly and two for house of representatives.
However, he said that nobody had picked form for senatorial election since the exercise began.
He expressed confidence that those who declared their interests would pick their forms before the deadline.
Elochukwu said, shortly after picking form, that he was in the race to change the face of representative democracy.
He added that with his emergence, there would be proper representation in the state.
He said that the decision to contest for the house of representatives seat was informed by absence of proper representation of the people.
He promised to sponsor “beneficial laws for the entire country” and his constituents.
