Yemi Osinbajo, vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says that Muhammadu Buhari, the party’s flag bearer, is too busy in the United Kingdom for rumours about his health being peddled by Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state.

While responding to questions at a town hall meeting organised by the party in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom state, the professor said Buhari was in the United Kingdom attending to international issues concerning Nigeria.

“Somebody asked a question  that it’s been rumoured that General Buhari is ill and all that, I think that again this is very sad that a gentleman in Ekiti state – Governor Fayose –  is the one who has been spreading this rather unfortunate rumour,” he said.

“I don’t really understand why the gentleman has chosen to spend so much time saying that somebody is ill.

“As you know, General Buhari has been meeting with very important figures in the British government. He has spoken to Blair – we saw that on TV. He will be giving a lecture at the Chattam House tomorrow at 4 O’ Clock.

“The man is very busy; he is doing what he needs to do. If you are going to be president of Nigeria by the grace of God in May, we need to do many things, both locally and internationally, and he is busy attending to those international things.”

Earlier, Fayose had alleged that Buhari was in the United States to seek medical attention and APC leaders, especially Bola Tinubu, were “covering up his true health status for their selfish gains”.

At the event, Osinbajo also reiterated that a federal APC government would provide free education at primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.

He said free education at tertiary institutions would be focused on Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) and Education-oriented courses.

Dis saga of GMB’s health as orchestrated by no other but a Governor of a state in dis country simply shows the stuff our so called govt officials are made of. Dis present crops of politicians seem to be taking us back to late 70s when one feels so ashamed to say dt he/she is a Nigerian due to high level of financial recklessness, indiscipline, corruption etc. May God have mercy on us. All d utterances, accusations & counter accusations dt is heaped on GMB most times wrongly b/4 the Press authoritatively by a “personality” like Ayo Fayoshe – a governor makes me wonder what a Governor, husband & father the society have in him. I feel so ashamed & pity for all of us. Now dt it’s been proven beyond reasonable doubt dt GMB was d UK attending meetings, what does dt & where does dt leave d word integrity in d person of Fayose? I want to send a msge to Fayose actually it’s an adage” d dry tree dt every one is looking at to fall doesn’t fall but d freshly looking tree dt every one is looking up to for fruition, just breaks down & fall”. Death or incapacitation has never & does not come with age. Wisdom should have thought Mr. Governor dt. For d sake of ur children & those dt address u as ur EXCELLENCY try & conduct yourself properly politics or not b/c what goes around comes around.
