Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, says Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has played a major role in Nigeria’s democracy.

Congratulating the APC leader on his 69th birthday in a statement by Gboyega Akosile, the governor’s spokesman, Sanwo-Olu said the story of Nigeria’s democracy can’t be told without writing Tinubu’s name in gold.

He lauded Tinubu for his benevolence, raising the bar of governance in the country, and for his contribution to national development.

“The National Leader of APC is a political pathfinder, nationalist and detribalised Nigerian, who has contributed in no small measure to the socio-political and economic growth of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole,” Sanwo-Olu said.

“Asiwaju Tinubu is a major stabilising factor for Nigeria’s current democratic dispensation. He left with impeccable records in Lagos State after setting the right template for economic growth and political stability.

“As pathfinder, Asiwaju charted the developmental trajectory of modern Lagos, raising the bar of governance and public service in the State and indeed, Nigeria.

“A cheerful giver who cares about the welfare of the people, Asiwaju personifies tolerance and humanity.

“The story of Nigeria’s democracy cannot be told without the name of the Jagaban Borgu written in gold. Thousands are today direct beneficiaries of his political benevolence.”

Sanwo-Olu also prayed that Tinubu accomplishes “more in the service of our dear country and humanity”.
