Abdulmumin Jibrin, a former member of the house of representatives representing Bebeji/Kiru federal constituency, says he is working with a team of youths to launch a political initiative, tagged ‘Group-23 (G-23)’.

Jibrin disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to him, the initiative will focus on encouraging youth participation in politics, especially as Nigeria prepares for the 2023 general election.

“It is formed with a solid structure in each of the polling units of the country comprising young people. The G-23 is intended to be the largest and strongest political mobilisation structure in the country and is determined to play a significant role in the next general election, especially identifying and mobilising support for a candidate in the next presidential election,” he said.

“Since I joined politics, my dream is to build an independent and strong youth-based political structure founded on volunteer principles with strong representatives in all the polling units of the country.

“It didn’t take us a day. We have been working hard to actualise this mission for a couple of years now. Politics is all about people. The people are there. You just simply need to find your way to them.

“We are also leveraging on technology such that with a single press on a button, you can reach out to your point men in all the units across the country.

“It is my hope and vision that this will turn out to be the largest and most influential platform of young people as we march towards 2023 and beyond.”

According to the former lawmaker, the formal unveiling of the group and its operational headquarters will take place in Abuja on a date to be announced soon.
