Nigeria U-23 side, the Dream Team, had a nightmarish outing against Burkina Faso losing 3-1 in their semi-final clash at the men’s football event of the 2015 African Games.

The Super Falcons were not lucky either as they lost 2-1 to the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the women’s event.

Burkina Faso, who only got to this stage of the tournament by the drawing of lots after they couldn’t be separated from Sudan in all statistics, found themselves ahead just after 12 minutes through an own goal from defender Seth Sincere.

They increased the tally in the 73rd minute through Omar Kabore. Nigeria pulled a goal back two minutes later from substitute Etor Daniel from a Junior Ajayi’s assist.

Burkina Faso killed off any thought of a fight back from Nigeria with a decisive strike from Arba Dicko in the 78th minute.

They will now face Senegal, who defeated hosts Congo 3-1 in the other semi-final.

Goals from Theresa Abena and Madeleine Ngo Mani in the spate of three minutes proved insurmountable for the Super Falcons. And Onome Ebi consolation goal three minutes into the second half couldn’t prevent the African champions to lose to Cameroon.
