African Youth Parliament honours Shedrach Michael with 2021 leadership award

African Youth Parliament (AYP) has announced Shadrach Michael, the managing director of White Deck Beach Resort, as the winner of its 2021 honorary leadership award.

Bamikole Oladele Babs, the speaker of AYP, made the announcement at the parliament’s ambassadorial hall of fame induction.

The induction was held ahead of the maiden gathering of African youths scheduled for September 16 to 20 in Cairo, Egypt.

While presenting the award to Michael, Babs said the awardee had distinguished himself as a thorough professional in his field and has created jobs for Nigerian youths.

“We accept you as a role model and beacon of hope whom we can always rely on as a parliament in our pursuit of advancement for the African youth,” Babs said.

Michael, who said he was honoured by the award, pledged his company’s support for the AYP’s efforts towards making the Cairo conference successful.

“In my capacity, I would do all that I can in mobilising greater support for your parliament because I believe you deserve all the support that you can get,” he said.

The upcoming AYP conference in Cairo is themed ‘Agenda 2030: New Possibilities for Africans Youth’.

According to the group, the conference aims “to sensitise the youth on the continent towards achieving sustainable goals for the future, in addition to awakening the consciousness of not only African governments, but also youths and stakeholders in implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Africa before its expiration in 2030”.
