APC chieftain to Nigerians: Support Tinubu’s fight against insecurity with constructive criticisms

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, says Nigerians should support President Bola Tinubu’s fight against insecurity with constructive criticisms.

Gunmen have laid siege to parts of the country, and abductions for ransom have persisted.

In a chat with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, the former lawmaker said the situation is alarming, adding that Nigerians need to set aside their political and ethnic differences and get behind the president.

“No one is happy with the recent killing, banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, other crimes across the country, but negative criticisms and name-calling by the leaders of the opposition parties is not the way forward,” he said.

“What we need at this critical period is for us as stakeholders to come together, irrespective of our political affiliations, religion or tribe and give the present administration needed boost and encouragement.

“Security is a collective responsibility and that is why I am appealing to leaders of the opposition parties to stop playing cheap politics with security issues and narratives that can divide the country.”

He said security agencies should deploy a bottom-up strategy that would integrate grassroots figures like traditional rulers, religious leaders, non-conventional security groups and opinion leaders.

Last month, Oyintiloye asked the president to conduct an integrity review of his cabinet to ensure the success of his administration.
