The appeal court, Abuja, on Thursday adjourned indefinitely hearing in a suit on the leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Justice Ibrahim Saulawa-led three-man panel suspended hearing on the matter to await the decision of the Port Harcourt division of the court, which had heard the case earlier.
This followed an application by Akin Olujinmi, counsel to the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP, asking the court to stand down, pending the determination of the matter by the appellate court in Rivers state.
The court subsequently adjourned the case sine die.
The PDP has been embroiled in a leadership crisis since it lost the presidential election in 2015.
A faction of the party led by Ahmed Makarfi lays claim to its leadership just as the Sheriff faction does.
Different high courts had given contradictory judgments, recognising both factions as the legitimate leadership of the party.
But the matter will now be decided by the appeal court in Port Harcourt.
