Are there no qualified Christians in the north? CAN asks Buhari

The northern zone of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of considering only Muslims from the north for appointment.

Danladi Yarima, secretary of the association, said this during an interview in Kaduna.

According to him, CAN is unhappy with the choice of the president’s appointments, as they have been unfair to its members.

He said that the north-central geo-political zone is the worst hit by the “anti-Christian appointments”, as it has 90 per cent Christian population.

“The appointments that have been done so far by President Muhammadu Buhari has not been fair to Christians and has so far been in breach of the law that created the federal character,” he said.

“CAN is not satisfied with the appointments of President Buhari so far, neither is the body believing that the federal government is fair to its members in terms of appointments.

“Buhari should come out and tell us why every appointment now must be a Muslim or Hausa/Fulani Muslim. Is he telling us that in Kano, Katsina, Sokoto and other states he has appointed from, there is no Christian?

“Come to the Middle Belt, which has been worst hit by the appointment issue for every government in power with the exception of Jonathan.

“For decades, the Middle Belters have always been at the receiving end and the reasons are obvious, 90 per cent of Middle Belters are Christians.”

@John Tobi Abdalla There is no moslem at all in the SE or SS to begin with. Ofcourse no qualified Islamist in these two regions except if Nigeria has abolished state of origin whereby no indigenes can be considered for appointment. Your president has a hidden agenda.

Mr Abdalla, you need to be honest to yourself answer the question yourself. The issue been raise is this, why more appointment has gone to one particular religion and set of people while others ha’ve been neglected. You are a Muslim hiding with the of a Christian.

I guess u mean the security chiefs and paramilitary chiefs… maybe you guys are saying that the president should go and appoint some one who is not in the organisation or some one who is like Amosu or Badeh. CAN is a disgrace to christiandom. yes, they are a disgrace. instead of them to apologise for the atrocities committed by past christian leaders too numerous to mention and work in mentoring more people with integrity and homesty like the immediate past IG Arase or People like Akinwunmi Adesina the new African development Bank boss. they are there looking for crumbs from the table of the rich man. I pity the flocks under their leadership. God have mercy and deliver your church.Amen.

Go and get a life. You have the guts to mention Christian leaders but failed to mention how the leadership of the North has fared in comparison to the south. With all the years in power by northerners, what exactly is the benefits to their people? Who are those classified as educationally disadvantaged states? Who are those quota system was introduced for? Where is VVF rampant? How about Almajiri kids? Some of you just purchase cheap data and come on line to talk rubbish.

Why are people being divisive. Nigeria is for all of us and as such the President must show interest to all without prejudice

The President should continue with his government of deceit and nepotism. He’s ruling for the North, by the North and of the North. I take solace with the fact that he won’t rule forever.

@Olukorede Antonia Adejumo, the professor of linguistics, at university of nowhere, in South Africa. Prithee, what did you see wrong with the adjective”senseless”given to the lackadaisical view of the clueless selfish Christian clergy over the even appointment by our candid Nigerian president Muhammad Buhari?
