The Nigerian Army has vowed to bring persons who attacked security personnel in Imo to book.

On Tuesday morning, gunmen killed some security operatives and burnt their patrol vehicles in Oriagu, Ehime-Mbano LGA of Imo state.

The security operatives were on patrol along Aba-branch Oriagu in Ehime-Mbano road when the gunmen ambushed them and killed over six joint task force officers, while others sustained injuries.

Hassan Dada, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army, spoke on Tuesday when he visited wounded personnel involved in the incident at the hospital in Owerri.

The victims included men of the police, army, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Dada thanked the security personnel for their selfless sacrifice towards the restoration of peace in Imo and the entire south-east.

He assured that the wounded officers would receive the best medical service available at no cost, while praying for their quick recovery.

Dada subsequently paid a condolence visit to heads of other security agencies who lost personnel in the incident.

“I urge all security personnel to remain focused and resolute at bringing to an end, the spiral of violence in the south-east region,” NAN quoted Dada as saying.
