Asue Ighodalo: I will surpass Obaseki’s developmental strides if elected

Asue Ighodalo, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state, has promised to surpass the achievements of Godwin Obaseki, the governor, if elected in the September 21 poll.

Ighodalo spoke on Wednesday when he addressed party supporters at the Benin airport, after his return from Abuja.

On February 22, Ighodalo won the PDP primary election backed by the national working committee (NWC) of the party, while Philip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo, was announced the winner of another primary organised by a faction of the PDP in the state.

On Tuesday, the PDP NWC issued a certificate of return to Ighodalo.

Ighodalo thanked the people who came out to welcome him and promised never to disappoint them.

“Having received the PDP certificate of return certificate, now is the time for real work,” he said.

“I want to thank you all for this show of love and support, because if not for you people, we would not be where we are now.

“This is the time for the real work to commence and by the grace of God, we are going to work hard in order to achieve our target.

“Where governor Obaseki will stop in terms of development, we are going to continue from there and even do more for Edo people.”
