The Katsina emirate council says it would not hold the Sallah Durbar during the forthcoming Eid Fitr to mourn victims of recent bandit attacks in some communities in the state.
Ibrahim Bindawa, information officer of the emirate, disclosed this in a statement, in Katsina, on Saturday.
Suspected bandits recently attacked some communities in the state, killing over 30 people while some animals were carted away.
Some of the affected communities included Mara Zamfarawa village in Danmusa local government area (LGA); Sabon-Layin Galadima community of Faskari LGA; and Yar’Gamji village of Batsari LGA.
“His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir has directed me to inform the people of the state that following bandit attacks in some communities in the state, the usual Sallah Durbar will not hold during the Eid Fitr celebration,” Bindawa said.
Bindawa said special prayers would be held after the Eid prayer for sustainable peace in the state and the country at large.
