Amid ongoing massive campaigns for the release of the school girls kidnapped in Chibok, Borno State, by Boko Haram, the sect has kidnapped eight girls in Warabe, a village in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The armed men stormed the village in the middle of the night, shooting sporadically, before escaping with the captives.

According to Lazarus Musa, a resident of the village, the raid was accompanied by gunfire.

“They were many, and all of them carried guns. They came in two vehicles painted in army color. They started shooting in our village,” he told Rueters.

“Many people tried to run behind the mountain but when they heard gun shots, they came back. The Boko Haram men were entering houses, ordering people out of their houses.”

The girls were said to have been taken away on trucks containing looted livestock and food.

Meanwhile, the actions of the insurgents continue to generate reactions throughout the world, different countries pledging to assist Nigeria in rescuing the kidnapped girls.

Jay Carney, spokesman for President Barack Obama, said on Tuesday that the U.S. is monitoring the developments closely with the aim of securing the innocent girls.

Similarly, William Hague, the British foreign minister, also disclosed the intention of his country to assist Nigerian security forces in finding the students.

Hague described the act as immoral, adding that Britain is “offering practical help” to Nigeria.
