A suicide bomber in an explosive-laden car has detonated a bomb at a bus station in Potiskum, Yobe state, killing at least five people and wounding more than 30.

According to Danladi Marcus, Yobe state police commissioner who confirmed the attack, the bomber rammed his car into a vehicle with passengers, detonating the bomb in the process.

Marcus, however, said normalcy had returned to the city, and called on residents to be more vigilant.

Exactly one week ago, two suicide bombers believed to be “about 10 years old” blew themselves up at a popular market in Potiskum, killing at least three people.

In November 2014, an explosion at Tsohuwar Kasuwa killed 10 people; while a suicide bomber killed 58 pupils at a school assembly in the same month.

The latest Potiskum attack is coming two days after a suicide bomber killed “more than 15 people” in Gombe.
