Buhari: No one can accuse me of corruption, lying
Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says he has been accused of many things, but not corruption, mediocrity and lying.
In a series of tweets on his Twitter handle @ThisIsBuhari on Tuesday, Buhari averred that he “fought corruption, stabilised the naira and shutdown insurgencies” when he was a military head of state.
“People accuse me of many things. But one thing they never accuse me of is corruption. They never accuse me of mediocrity, or of lying,” he said.
“I have led this country and I have a record. We were not perfect, but we were effective; we solved problems, and we made Nigerians proud. We rebuilt industries; Nigerians queued up and treated one another with respect; Nigerians took pride in our reputation for discipline.”
Buhari said because his traducers could not attack his records, they accuse him falsely of being a fundamentalist.
“Because they cannot attack our record, they accuse me falsely of ethnic jingoism; they accuse me falsely of religious fundamentalism,” he said.
“Even as head of state, we never imposed Sha’riah. All my running mates have been either Igbo or Yoruba and always Christian.”
The APC presidential candidate, who is giving his fourth shot at the presidency, condemned Boko Haram and promised to end its reign of terror.
“I have and will continue to condemn those who burn God’s places of worship, be they churches or mosques and wish God’s judgment upon them.
“As your president, their punishment will not stop there; we will also ensure Boko Haram and other such elements, are found, are arrested. And, no, it does not matter if you are Christian, Muslim, animist or atheist: we need a new direction under a new leadership.”
While restating his reason for running for the office of the president, he said: “Corruption will be a thing of the past and we will ensure that wealth goes around our citizens in an equitable manner.
“Government will conduct itself in a disciplined and responsible manner; we will identify problems and fix them.
“Let me make you this promise today: We will protect your children. We will protect your wealth. We will make this country work again.”

GMB, the onus is on you to produce the original copies of your certificates. Your affidavit creates much room for second-guessing and there is no better value of integrity than honesty; for the public, it is also important you are seen to be transparently honest. If the military has your certificates as deposed in your affidavit, please do us the favour of applying for copies and providing them to INEC in accordance with the law. As for the presidential election, may the better candidate win.
