Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has promised to donate N10 million to victims of attacks in two LGAs in Plateau state.

Obi and other LP chieftains visited the camps of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs on Saturday.

The visit was sequel to the killings that took place in Bokkos, Barkin-Ladi, and Mangu LGAs of the state.

Over 150 people were killed in 17 communities in the three LGAs on the eve of Christmas.

Several houses were destroyed by the gunmen during the attacks, leaving many residents displaced.

After the attacks, the federal government promised that the affected communities and victims would get justice.

Speaking during his visit, the LP standard bearer said although “these are very challenging times in our nation… we must refuse to bow to the challenges”.

Obi said no Nigerian deserves to reside in an IDP camp, adding that there is a need to reclaim the country from criminals.

“I would like to remind the security agencies that the perpetrators of these heinous acts live and operate within our borders. Therefore, flushing them out must be part of protecting our territorial integrity as a nation,” he said.

The former Anambra governor called on well-meaning Nigerians to give financial support to the victims of the attacks.
