Charles Udoh asks oil companies in A’Ibom to cooperate with govt

Charles Udoh, commissioner for environment and petroleum resources in Akwa Ibom, has urged international oil companies (IOCs) operating in state to cooperate with the government by relocating their operational base to the state.

The commissioner spoke during the commissioning and handing-over of the Mbo Training Centre to youths of the area by Oriental Energy Resources Ltd.

He said objective of the administration of Udom Emmanuel, the governor, is to create jobs and wealth for people.

He urged IOCs in the state to contribute to government’s efforts towards job and wealth creation by setting up their operational base in the state to open up the needed opportunities.

“This government has been focusing on the creation of jobs through the private sector arrangements witnessed in the multiplicity of industries dotting the landscape of the state,” he said.

“I therefore join hands with the youths of Mbo local government area to celebrate this gift from Oriental Energy Resources.”

Ignatius Ifelayo, commissioner appreciated the managing director of Oriental Energy Resources for leading a good cause of keeping to the company’s corporate social responsibility through people orientated projects in the state.

While expressing government’s appreciation for the initiative by Oriental Energy Resources, Udoh said the government would be more delighted if it is carried along from the beginning of any project for an all encompassing process.

Present at the event were: Asukwo Eyo, chairman of Mbo local government area, Edidem Asukwo,  paramount ruler of Mbo, and a representative of the commissioner for ministry of labour and manpower planning among others.
