The Ebeano political group led by Chimaroke Nnamani, senator representing Enugu east, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement comes about a day after Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu, said he had resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The senator, who lost his reelection bid to Kelvin Chukwu, candidate of the Labour Party (LP), had been expelled from the PDP for alleged anti-party activities.

The lawmaker consistently expressed his support for Bola Tinubu, the president-elect.

In a statement on Tuesday, Emmanuel Okwor, chairman of the political group, said the alliance with the ruling party is to consolidate the partnership with the president-elect.

“Members of the Ebeano political family across the country have been consulted and in agreement with the alliance in the interest of the people,” Okwor said.

“The interest and welfare of the group will be better served under the APC structure in the country.

“The Ebeano political family established since 1999 has remained the dominant political force in Enugu state.

“The group has consistently produced state governors, senators, members of house of Representatives, house of assembly members, ministers as well as local government council officials in the state since its inception.”
