A court of appeal sitting in Enugu has sacked Ifeanyi Ibezi, a member of the house of representatives from Anambra state.

The court sacked Ibezi who was candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the national assembly elections at its sitting on Tuesday.

The lawmaker represents Idemili north and Idemili south federal constituency of Anambra.

In an unanimous judgement, the court declared Obinna Chidoka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the authentic winner of the election conducted in February.

It subsequently ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Chidoka as the duly elected candidate in the poll.

The PDP candidate, who is younger brother to Osita Chidoka, former minister of aviation, had earlier lost at the election petition tribunal sitting in Anambra.

He first lost the seat to Ibezi in the election, but proceeded to the tribunal, arguing that INEC ought not to have conducted the supplementary election that produced the APGA candidate after the first ballot which he said he won.
