Since its inception into the Nigerian market, GOtv Nigeria, a customer-centric organization, has shown through their numerous campaigns, that their main goal is to ensure that many households enjoy wide access to information and entertainment with a rich mix of informative, educative and entertaining programming at an affordable rate.

Between January 2020 and now, the brand has come up with several promotional offers to cushion the effect of the pandemic and keep hope alive. At the same time, the offers serve as an appreciation cum reward for loyal customers and subscribers.

To start with, the ‘We’ve Got you’ offer kicked off when the lockdown order imposed by both the federal and state governments to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) occurred. This balm to economic injuries offered active and disconnected GOtv subscribers the opportunity to enjoy discounts and get upgraded to the next viewing package when they pay the fee of their current package. Customers on GOtv packages: Jolli, Plus, Jinja, Value and Lite packages, were rewarded with discounts of up to 75 per cent. The offer ran from April 20 to June 30, 2020.

Femi Ashaolu, a GOtv Jolli subscriber expressed excitement by the array of programmes available on the over 75-channel, GOtv Max, the platform’s premium package. “I paid my normal N2,500 for GOtv Jolli and had unhindered access to all channels on GOtv Max. I enjoyed the lockdown because of the offer” he said.

In January, the company reintroduced the yearly “Step- Up” campaign for DStv and GOtv subscribers which excited customers and helped to relieve the financial burden. The campaign allowed DStv subscribers on Compact, Yanga and Confam packages to pay for a package a step above their current package and get a boost to view programming on the next higher package. The campaign tagged “Max For Less” for GOtv also allowed GOtv subscribers on GOtv Jolli and Jinja to upgrade and enjoy GOtv Max at a discounted price of N2,999, instead of N3,600 per month.

In February 2021, MultiChoice introduced a major ‘Price Slash’ campaign on its DStv and GOtv decoders. The campaign saw the DStv HD decoder, dish kit with Compact package subscription drop from N18,600 to N9,900 on Confam package, while GOtv decoder, GOtenna with GOtv Jolli package subscription dropped from N6,900 from N8,400.

According to the company, the aim of the promo offer was to lessen the economic impact of COVID by lowering the entry barrier for new customers to get the DStv or GOtv decoder and stay connected to credible information and quality entertaining programmes.

For Julianna Agonsi, a mother of two toddlers, the price slash was a welcome opportunity to finally purchase a decoder and keep the kids entertained. “The offer came at the right time. I did not only get the GOtv decoder for less than the regular price, I was given a one-month Jolli package. My kids got to enjoy a variety of entertaining and educative programmes” she said.

In March 2021, GOtv Nigeria began a reward campaign, ‘GOtv dey your side’. The offer which was borne out of GOtv’s desire to show support to loyal subscribers experiencing the economic strain brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, offered them more for less. The campaign enabled subscribers on GOtv Jolli and GOtv Jinja get discounts of up to 32 per cent and an upgraded viewing on GOtv Max. . In the same month, there was a reward promo announced, where customers on the GOtv Max package got a chance to win N100,000 for school fees, N50,000 cash prize, N10,000 shopping vouchers, N5,000 fuel vouchers and free airtime in the “GOtv Awoof Promo”

All I had to was subscribe on GOtv Max. Not only did I get to watch all the channels on GOtv but I also got to win N100,000. I have a son in Grade 1. That money was a lifesaver. This has increased my loyalty to the brand as what they did was very commendable” he said.

Recently launched is the ‘Biggie Goals” campaign which commenced on July 1. The discount sees the DStv HD decoder, dish kit and One Month Compact package subscription drop from N18,600 to N9,900, while GOtv decoder, GOtenna with One Month Max package subscription will go from N9,500 to N6,900.
