Driver imprisoned for knocking down FRSC official

An operator of the tricycle, known as KeKe NAPEP, has been sentenced to five months imprisonment for knocking down a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) marshal in Adamawa state.

Adegoke Adetunji,  state sector commander of the FRSC, made this known to NAN in Yola, capital of Adamawa, on Wednesday.

Adetunji said the convict, Isma’il Ibrahim of Yola South local government area, was sentenced by a Jimeta magistrate court with an option of N50,000 fine.

“The incident occurred on November 17, along Yola–Fufore route,” he said.

“The convict drove recklessly while trying to avoid being arrested, as a result he knocked down the marshal who was on duty.”

Adetunji explained that the marshal was rushed to Yola Hospital and he is responding to treatment.

He said the court had also directed the convict to settle all medical bills of the marshal.
