This week, the supreme court will consider 21 appeals arising from disputes over the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election.

In its schedule, appeals for Ebonyi and Benue will be heard today by a five-member panel of justices led by John Okoro.

On Tuesday, the apex court will hear six appeals — the PDP, its candidate Caleb Muftwang, and INEC have filed three appeals regarding Plateau state; Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Ken Pela of the Labour Party (LP) have filed three appeals regarding Delta State.

On Wednesday, the court listed for hearing four appeals — two regarding Adamawa state filed by the candidate of the SDP, and a counter-appeal by Ahmadu Fintiri, the state governor.

The other two appeals were filed by Okechukwu Ahiwe of the PDP and Ikechi Emenike of the APC on the Abia state governorship poll.

On Thursday, the apex court will hear two appeals concerning Ogun state, filed by PDP’s Oladipo Adebutu and a counterappeal by the APC’s Adedapo Abiodun, governor of the state.

The court would also hear one appeal by PDP’s Sandy Onor challenging Cross River governorship poll and two concerning Akwa Ibom state, filed by YPP’s Akpan Udofia and NPP’s John Akpan Udoedehe.

On Friday, the apex court may deliver judgments in the governorship appeals on Kano, Lagos and a few others.

Today’s sitting has commenced. Hyacinth Alia, Benue governor and Sam Ode, his deputy, are in court.
