The Ebonyi state government says Josephat Ikengwu, traditional ruler of Isinkwo community in Onicha LGA, has been suspended indefinitely.

In a statement issued on Sunday by Kenneth Ugbala, secretary to state government (SSG), the traditional ruler was suspended over his failure to tackle insecurity in his community.

According to NAN, the suspension takes immediate effect.

“Subsequently, official vehicle and government property will no longer be in his possession. He is to return it to the SSG on or before close of work on Monday,” the statement reads.

According to a statement on Saturday by Charles Egumgbe, Enugu commissioner for chieftaincy matters, the decision to suspend the traditional ruler was announced after a security meeting.

The traditional ruler was said to have been suspended over allegations of his involvement in conduct harmful to the security of the state.
