Egypt president, Al-sisi, invites Buhari to Cairo

President Abdel Fatah Al-sisi of Egypt has invited Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s president-elect, to Cairo, capital of his country, to discuss issues relating to the interest of both countries.

Alaa Youssef, spokesman of Al-sisi, said both leaders had a telephone conversation recently and that Al-sis congratulated Buhari on his victory during the presidential election.

“President Al-sisis extended invitation to Gen. Muhammadu during a telephone conversation between the two leaders,” Ahmed Maher, head of press and information in the Egyptian Embassy in Nigeria, said in a statement.

“During the call, they discussed the bilateral relationship between the two countries and agreed on the importance of this relationship and the need to develop it on various levels.

“They also agreed to have more dialogue and coordination at the African level for the interest of the continent and how to strengthen the bilateral relationship and discuss the regional and international common interests like fighting terrorism and enhancing the security and the stability of the continent for the desired development of its people.”

Since his emergence at the poll, Buhari has been receiving goodwill from leaders across the world.

During a visit to Nigeria on Monday, President Alassane Ouattara of Cote D’Ivoire, congratulated him and assured him of his support when he finally takes over the reins of the country.
