Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE), a civil society organisation (CSO), says its April edition of ThursdayTalks dialogue will review the progress of the states’ fiscal transparency, accountability and sustainability (SFTAS) programme.
The ThursdayTalks conversation is held monthly on the X space to engage youths and thought leaders in advocating good governance through citizens’ participation.
The conversation is an initiative of EiE in partnership with BudgIT and TheCable.
This month’s edition of ThursdayTalks will be hosted by BudgIT.
In a statement on Wednesday, the organisation said the conversation will also focus on how transparent states have been since the SFTAS programme ended.
The SFTAS programme is an initiative of the World Bank in collaboration with the federal government to support Nigerian states in strengthening fiscal performance and sustainability.
The programme started in 2018 and ended in 2022.
In July 2023, BudgIT, a civic-tech organisation, launched the SFTAS programme.
“Recall that the World Bank developed SFTAS, a four-year program to support the government’s objective and encourage a common set of fiscal behaviour aimed at fiscal transparency, accountability, and sustainability,” the statement reads.
“Based on this, the States Fiscal Transparency League initiative is designed to sustain the gains of the World Bank’s SFTAS by tracking how well states maintain fiscal transparency, accountability, accessibility, and effective public finance management.”
Guests to speak at the April edition of the online conversation include Sunday Odeh, director of consolidated accounts, accountant-general office, Kogi state and Iyanuoluwa Bolarinwa, head of Open Government and Institutional Partnership (OGIP).
