Adamu Garba, a former presidential aspirant, says he is withdrawing a $1 billion suit filed against Jack Dorsey, chief executive officer (CEO) of Twitter, for supporting the #EndSARS campaign.

Dorsey had joined other international figures backing the campaign against police brutality in Nigeria. He called for donations to support it while Twitter created an icon for the #EndSARS hashtag.

In a suit filed at the federal high court, Abuja, on October 20, Garba asked the court to fine Dorsey and Twitter $1 billion as damages against Nigeria for supporting the campaign.

Garba who is the CEO of IPI Global also sought a declaration directing the company “to stop the operation of Twitter Int’l  in any part of the territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

However, the businessman took to his Twitter page on Monday to reveal that he has instructed his lawyers to withdraw the suit.

“My case with Jack was an effort to prevent Nigeria from getting that foreign interference,” he said.

“International actors coming in the name of human rights to cause havoc so that you internally can self destruct for their profitability and plunder.

“They profit from our own instability and disunity. What I did was to quickly hang a court case on his neck.

“Most of these publicly listed companies, especially the CEOs, the only thing they are afraid of is legal cases. Once you hang a legal case on their head, they know that they stand a chance to get trouble with their position.

“That is why you noticed as soon as that happened, he stopped his tweet soliciting for the nation to continue to sustain the protest.

“That is a very big win to stopping him from playing the script they played in Egypt, Syria and Lybia.

“We have won in this case and stopped him from interfering in our local politics.

“I have written to my lawyers to look at the possibility of withdrawing the case from the court so that we can continue to watch and monitor him.”

Garba also apologised to Nigerians who were pained by his actions.
