Balarabe Lawal, the minister of environment, paid a courtesy visit to three ministers, on collaborating to address the impact of climate change in Nigeria.

According to a statement from his office on Wednesday, Lawal visited the offices of David Umahi, minister of works; Ahmed Dangiwa, minister of housing and urban development; and Abdullahi Gwarzo, minister of state for housing and urban development.

Lawal said the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing collaboration between the three ministries in order to “achieve their mandates as stipulated during the presidential retreat”.

He said the ministries would collaborate in areas such as environmental impact assessment, planting of trees, erosion control, pollution control and climate change, among others.

Lawal expressed the commitment of the ministry of environment to achieve the mandate given to it by President Bola Tinubu.

This, he said, includes six key priority areas related to the environment as contained in the eight-point economic agenda of the Tinubu administration.

The three ministers also commended Lawal for his efforts in preserving the environment.

They assured him that their ministries would always be ready and willing to comply with environmental regulations.

Yakubu Mata, permanent secretary, ministry of works, had earlier visited Mahmud Kambari, his colleague in the ministry of environment.

The visit was to strengthen the working relationship between the ministries.
