Oghenekaro Etebo, the Nigerian U-23 midfielder, says he is on his way to start a career in Portugal with Feirense.

The ex-Warri Wolves playmaker told TheCable that the deal is all but sorted as he awaits the vital international transfer certificate (ITC) from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Etebo said: “Well, it is already concluded with Feirense, a seconnd division side in Portugal. I wouldn’t have been here today with the U-23 team if not for my ITC that I am waiting for.

“This season, I won’t be with Warri Wolves or any other club in the Nigerian league. So, once I have my ITC, I will be on my way to Portugal to play for Feirense.”

Nigerians saw the best of the midfielder as the Samson Siasia-led Dream Team won the African U-23 Nations Championship with Oghenekaro calling the shots in midfield.

“It was not easy but I give thanks to God. It was not easy from the way we started in Dakar. Compare to the All African Games in Congo where we had a better team. ”

He said he was looking forward to Rio 2016 Olympics.

“Though, we are still a team in progress, I know we will keep getting better,” he said.

“I believe we are going to do well. Because we have commenced preparations already. And we have a friendly in Brazil on the 24th of this month with the Brazilian side.

“And we are going to be playing some good games like this. This will prepare the team. This will be able to boost the morale of the players.”
