Former minister of education, Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili, has said that the independence celebration will not be complete without more than 200 Chibok girls held captive by Boko Haram.

Ezekwesili, who has been campaigning for the rescue for the girls since their abduction, is still not relenting in ratcheting up pressure on the government for the cause she is totally devoted to.

In her Twitter campaign on Monday, she wrote: “Day 168 Chibok girls still in enemy den. Celebration of independence is not complete without our 218 daughters.”

“How is it even possible to keep silent on the fate of 219 children of Nigeria held captive by brutal enemies? #Bringbackourgirls, Now and alive.”

Nigeria will mark its 54th independence anniversary on Wednesday and it will exactly 170 days since the abduction of the Chibok girls.
