Gabon and Kenya have confirmed their first cases of coronavirus.

Ghana recorded its first two cases of the disease on Thursday.

In a statement, Edgard Miyakou, the minister of communication, said its index case is a 27-year-old Gabonese man who returned from France on March 8.

“This day, March 12, 2020, the government declares the first case of COVID-19 in Gabon,” the minister said.

“He is a 27-year-old compatriot living in Gabon and having stayed in Bordeau in France.”

He added that the patient “is doing better”.

In Kenya, a woman, who returned from the United States, tested positive for the virus in Nairobi.

“I want to inform you that the ministry of health has confirmed the first coronavirus case in Kenya,” Mutahi Kagwe, health minister of Kenya, said.

“The case is a Kenyan citizen who travelled back to Nairobi, returning from the United States of America via London, United Kingdom, on March 5, 2020.

“The woman’s temperature had returned to normal and she was stable and recovering in isolation.”
