A group — Nigerians United for Tinubu/Shettima (NUFTS) — has assured Nigerians that the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu will meet their expectations.

The group said since the elections have been concluded, there is a need for Nigerians to unite for the development of the country.

In a statement on Wednesday, the group called on political parties to refrain from making inciting comments that will heat up the polity and channel their energy to the petitions in court.

“We urge all political parties to accept the outcome of the election in good faith and support the incoming government in its efforts to build a prosperous and united Nigeria,” the group said.

“It is important for all political leaders to recognise that they have a role to play in building a stable and peaceful nation, and they must therefore act responsibly and with restraint at all times.

“We have noted with utmost dismay and disappointment that some people are trying to ferment trouble and disturb the peace that we currently enjoy as recently alerted by the Department of State Services (DSS).

“We use this medium to call on such persons to desist and retrace their steps in order not to disturb the peace and unity of the nation or encroach on the rights and freedom of other law-abiding citizens.

“We also call on all political parties, especially the opposition, to refrain from making inciting comments or taking actions that may heat up the polity. We urge them to channel their grievances and concerns through the appropriate legal and democratic processes.

“We commend the efforts of security agencies in ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians during the election period. We call on them to remain vigilant and ensure that they continue to discharge their duties of protecting the lives and properties of all Nigerians, especially during this post-election period.”

The group further called on Nigerians who believe in a united and prosperous country to continue to remain law-abiding and trust in the process and institutions of the state towards building a better Nigeria.

“We believe that Nigeria can achieve greatness if we all work together, and the incoming government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima will need the support and cooperation of all Nigerians to achieve this feat,” the group said

“Just like many Nigerians who participated in the process of the elections, we call on all and sundry to put their trust and faith in the incoming government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima with the hope and conviction that it will meet the legitimate yearnings and aspirations of our countrymen and women.”
