Gunmen abduct four students of Nasarawa university

At least four students of Nasarawa State University in Keffi were abducted when suspected gunmen attacked their lodge on Tuesday morning.

Ramhan Nansel, police spokesperson in Nasarawa, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday.

Nansel said the students were abducted when the gunmen invaded their lodge located at Anguwan Kaare in Keffi LGA of the state.

He said the incident occurred at about 12:55 am on Tuesday.

“The command is aware of kidnapping at about 12:55 am as a distress call was received that a house located at Angwan Kaare, Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men,” the statement reads.

“The police in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly and combed the area, but to no avail.

“The commissioner of police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescue the 4 victims unhurt.”

There have been growing cases of abduction of students across various tertiary institutions in the country.

In September, bandits abducted more than 20 students of Federal University, Gusau in Zamfara state, from the r lodge.

On October 4, bandits kidnapped five students of the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina state.
