Emmanuel Adeniyi, an assistant commissioner of police in Zamfara state, has been abducted alongside members of his family.

The incident was said to have occurred on Wednesday when the police officer serving in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, was travelling to Kaduna state.

Adeniyi’s Hi-lux van ran into the gunmen who ordered he and his family members into another vehicle and whisked them away.

Also, another police officer was said to have been abducted while travelling to the Birnin Gwari area of the state.

Shaba Alkali, Zamfara commissioner of police, confirmed the incident but said he was still waiting for more information.

Earlier this month, suspected armed bandits invaded a police post in Tsafe local government area of the state, abducting a sergeant and corporal.

They were later released after a joint intervention by the state government and the police command.
