Gunmen attack Taraba community, abduct 18 residents

Some gunmen have abducted 18 persons during an attack on Pupule community in Yorro LGA of Taraba state.

Umaru Nyala, district head of the community, his son, and also a pregnant woman were said to have been among the abducted victims.

The gunmen reportedly attacked the community around 2:00 am on Tuesday and started shooting sporadically in the air before going away with the abductees.

“It has been confirmed. One chief named Alhaji Umar Abubakar Nyala and fifteen others, including one inspector of police who came home on casual leave and a sergent residing in Pupule were abducted,” Usman said.

The incident comes days after gunmen attacked Sarkin Kudu town in Ibbi LGA of the state and killed Ali Hakimi, the district head of Sarkin Kudu town.
